Абярэг "Саламяны павук".
Па вечарах перад новым годам беларуская сям’я збіраецца разам, каб майстраваць “Саламянага павука”. Збіранне Павука – гэта ня толькі мастацтва і рамяство; гэта свайго роду гульня для ўсёй сям'і, ня менш захапляльная, чым будаваць гарады з Лега або складаць пазл з 1000 часцінак.
Саламяны павук —
адзін з самых старажытных абярэгаў у Беларусі, створаны з саломкі і нітак. Ён
лічыцца сакральным аб'ектам, таму што яго геаметрычная форма і працэс вырабу
паўтараюць боскую геаметрыю стварэння Сусвету. Адна з легенд расказвае, што ўвесь Сусвет як найвялікшы шэдэўр быў сатканы
павуком.
Саламяны павук робяць у пачатку новага года, мяркуючы, што ён будзе служыць ахоўнікам дома і сям'і на працягу ўсяго года. Уважаецца, што ён ловіць і знішчае злыя сілы. Звычайна яго падвешваюць да столі, або ў дзвярным праёме, або над дзіцячай калыскай.
Распрацоўваючы схему для свайго
трэцяга вышытага Саламянага Павука, я імкнулася ўжыць колеры, як мага больш
набліжаныя да сапраўднай саломы. А ягоны дызайн натхнёны традыцыйнымі беларускімі
ўзорамі, якія выкарыстоўваліся для тканых посцілак.

At the start of a new year, Belarusan families gather in the evening to create the Straw Spider—known as Salamiany Pavouk. The activity isn’t just a craft; it’s a kind of game that engages the whole family, as exciting as building cities out of Lego or working on a 1000-piece puzzle.
The
Straw Pavouk is one of the oldest talismans in Belarus, traditionally made from
straw and thread. It’s considered a sacred object because its geometric shape
and the process of making it are believed to echo the divine geometry of the
Universe’s creation.
According
to legends, the entire universe was woven as the greatest masterpiece of a
spider.
Families
make the Straw Pavouk at the beginning of each new year, believing it will
serve as a protector for their home and family throughout the year. It’s
thought to catch and destroy evil forces.
Typically,
it’s hung from the ceiling, or in a doorway, or above a baby’s crib.
For my third stitched Straw Pavouk, I aimed to use colours that closely resemble real straw. The design is inspired by traditional Belarusan patterns, like those found in woven coverlets.
The word ‘pavouk’ means ‘a spider’ in Belarusan language.
